Hello!  My name is Jeannine Gowdy.  I am a happily married, homeschooling mom of 3 wonderful, lovely girls – Ellen, Anna and Marylee.  Our family attends Valley Bible Church in Stephens City, where I sing in the choir, take care of the library, and work with the 3rd – 6th graders in Coached By Christ, our kids Bible club.  We have homeschooled our girls since the very beginning.

Some of my hobbies include sewing, (especially putting quilt tops together!), knitting, crocheting, (and anything else that can be done with thread, string or yarn), reading, and working in the garden (otherwise known as playing in the dirt).  There is always something to keep me busy!

As an 8 year old, I realized that God does not have grandchildren!  Just because my parents and grandparents were Christians, and we were always at church doing something or another, I was not automatically a Christian.  I accepted Christ at a youth camp that summer.

After graduating from high school, I attended Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a year.  I then returned to my home in Toledo and attended the University of Toledo where I received degrees in Biology (1984) and Secondary Science education (1985).  I began teaching at a Christian school in Toledo, OH in 1985 where I taught Life Science, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology as well as some Jr. High math.  In 1989, I was married to Tim.  We moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, and then on to Andrews AFB, MD in 1991, where I taught Physics at one of the local Christian schools.

Our daughters were born in 1990, 1992 and 1995.

Tim retired from the Air Force in December of 2001 and we moved to Lebanon, TN.  While there, our family was involved in Heritage Christian Academy, a Christian homeschool co-op/tutorial where I taught Chemistry and elementary sewing until we moved to Virginia in January of 2005.

I began teaching at Covenant Learning Coop in 2005.   I enjoy teaching and am looking forward to a great year.
