Space and Earth Science
Course Description
This course includes a great exploration of Astronomy, Geology and Oceanography/Hydrology. Meteorology/weather is presented in the book, but will not be covered in class. Material in all sections is presented from a Young Earth Creation viewpoint. This course uses both book and internet resources.
Suggested Student Background
This class/book is designed for the upper level junior high student. Students should be reading at the 8th grade level and must be able to work independently following a schedule provided by the instructor. Students must also have basic computer skills, such as using the internet for research and email. Internet access is required.

Space and Earth Science, (textbook) 3rd edition, Bob Jones University Press, © 2005, ISBN: 1-59166-299-0 (This book includes student activity pages which will be torn out and handed in.)
If you do not wish to tear pages out of the above book, there is a consumable student activity book available from Bob Jones for this course. It does NOT take the place of the textbook, but may be purchased in addition to the textbook. Please see the BJU website if you are interested in this. Information is also posted on the Space/Earth Teacher web.
Timeline
Students are expected to complete a summer assignment before the first day of class. Please see the Space/Earth Science website for the exact assignment.
The 1st semester of this course will deal with the science of Astronomy, including early theories about the solar system, the stars, sun, planets and other astronomical bodies. The first semester will end with space exploration.
The second semester of this course deals with the science of Geology, with topics ranging from the earth’s design to weathering and ending with Oceanography/water.
